First Day Hike

Meet at either end of the Walkway and join us on a hike to the center belvedere (Flag Pole). Approximate distance of round trip hike is 1 mile if starting from the Ulster Visitor Center and 1.5 miles if starting from the East Gate Plaza. Hikers should dress warm with appropriate footwear. It will be cold and windy on the Walkway. There are benches along the way for anyone who needs to rest. Bring a camera for pictures of wintertime in the Hudson Valley from 212' above the Hudson River. A longer guided hike along the Walkway 360 Loop will be available for anyone wishing to continue on from the Flag Pole after the meet up, giveaways and photos. This walk will continue across the Walkway into Lloyd before heading to the Mid-Hudson Bridge. Once over the MH Bridge, hikers will walk along the Poughkeepsie waterfront to Upper Landing Park before returning to the Walkway via the 21-story glass enclosed elevator. Hike is weather permitting. Approximate distance is roughly 3 miles.
