How Light, Ideas, and Community Built a City

Why is Buffalo called a Lit City? And also the City of Light? What is Buffalo LIT? We'll answer that and more on this fun new tour of downtown Buffalo! At happy hour, the lights will be coming on as we walk by some of downtown's favorite landmarks, including the Electric Tower, Goldome Bank, and Shea's Theater. Join us to discover some fun stories about the City of Light and to learn the history of beer in general and in Buffalo in particular. We'll start and end at Big Ditch Brewery, where everyone gets a drink (beer or wine) at the end of the tour!

This tour meets outside Big Ditch Brewery at 55 East Huron Street. Street parking - free after 5pm - is available on downtown streets. The tour is approximately 90 minutes in length. 

Tour Procedures & Policies: 

• Reservations are required for all tours, including for Explorer Pass members. Walk-ups without reservations cannot be accommodated. Tours are generally limited to a maximum of 18 people per group. 
  • Reservations close two hours before the tour's scheduled start time (for example, reservations close at 8am for a 10am tour). 
  • The Explore Buffalo docent for your tour will have a list of tour reservations for their tour; you do not need to print or bring any tour confirmation. 
• Accessibility: Please contact us at explore@explorebuffalo.org or (716) 245-3032 if you plan to attend this tour and will require accommodations or if you have questions about accessibility. 
• Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. Tours generally proceed rain or shine. In the event of weather that requires a tour cancellation, we will contact registered tour guests in advance of the tour.
