Suffragist and political activist, Hester Jeffrey, worked for the Women Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), National Assn. of Colored Women’s Clubs, including the one in Rochester, and was a friend and eulogist of Susan B. Anthony. Speaker Susan Goodier, SUNY Oneonta professor and the author of “No Votes for Women: The New York State Anti-Suffrage Movement” specializes in US women’s activism, especially suffrage activism, from 1840 to 1920.
