Visit the historic 1816 Seward House Museum to explore the lives and legacies of the Seward family members. While observing a nearly completely original historic collection, learn about William Henry Seward's impactful political career as a New York Senator and Governor, United Sates Senator, and Secretary of State for Presidents Lincoln and Johnson. Seward is most remembered for facilitating the purchase of Alaska for the United States, often referred to as Seward's Folly. The Seward family also included their home as a stop on the Underground Railroad, fought for women's rights, and were a part of many other reformative movements of the 19th century.
