History Tours of Schoharie Crossing's Towpath

Details

On Saturday, June 17th we'll offer two free tours of the towpaths at Schoharie Crossing. Tours leave the Visitor Center on Schoharie Street at 10am and 1pm. We'll traverse the original Erie Canal towpath along Clinton's Ditch and meander our way back along the Enlarged Erie Canal towpath, witnessing locks from both eras before highlighting the remnants of the impressive Schoharie Creek Aqueduct that once carried the canal OVER the creek. You'll learn some of our interesting canal history and just how the artificial river allowed for transformation in NY and America.

Our Free Path Through History Weekend tours are sponsored by the Friends of Schoharie Crossing.
