HSA Music Department presents a special evening with faculty members MAJID KHALIQ and ERIC BROWN. Majid Khaliq is a violinist and composer cut from a different cloth. He has been described by legendary musician Wynton Marsalis as having "a unique blend of improvisation, groove and technical sophistication." Although classically trained, Mr. Khaliq's passion and musical palette ranges from the roots of American jazz music to the greats of the Progressive jazz scene. He is quickly establishing himself as a rising talent in the world of jazz.
Hailing from The Bay Area to the history and tradition of Harlem, Eric Brown is all about groove. Eric is not only a drummer but a singer/songwriter and producer whose music can be found online. An ever rising star, Eric Brown is in high demand in NYC, but he finds time to pass the torch while teaching at the Harlem School of the Arts where so many greats have studied. Eric Brown will release is new album, Still, in Spring 2018.
