This year, Lake Placid will host the IRONMAN 70.3 event, a little over a month after IRONMAN Lake Placid, which takes place every July. IRONMAN Lake Placid is the longest-running American event aside from the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii and is also the home of one of the most challenging IRONMAN courses with its famous Adirondack climbs. This is a gorgeous and family-friendly event every athlete should put on their bucket list. At this event, athletes will be treated to a course that's identical to the full-distance race, but each discipline will be one single loop of the course. Athletes will begin with a one-loop swim in beautiful, sparkling clear Mirror Lake, with the famous sight line at the bottom of the lake to guide them. Transitioning in the Olympic Speed Skating Oval to the bike, the rolling mountain views provide a very scenic and very memorable backdrop to the 56-mile ride. Back at the Oval, athletes will begin their 13.1-mile run through the little town of Lake Placid and around Mirror Lake.
