Laura Ainsworth grew up watching her dad, renowned big band musician Billy Ainsworth, back such idols as Tony Bennett and Mel Torme. Today, she keeps the family tradition alive, mixing classic lounge jazz with modern touches to create her own unique twist on standards and lost gems of the Great American Songbook. Her silky, sultry vocals, reminiscent of such mid-century chanteuses as Julie London and Jo Stafford, and her albums “Keep It To Yourself” and “Necessary Evil” have earned her critical raves and worldwide airplay, and she has sung from Las Vegas to India.
The Metropolitan Room is proud to present the New York solo debut of this elegant Texas songbird, in celebration of the summer release of her highly-anticipated third album, “New Vintage” and best-of audiophile LP, "Top Shelf." Joining her will be her partner and pianist extraordinaire, "Dallas Jazz Musician of the Year" Brian Piper of the Brian Piper Trio and the N'Awins Gumbo Kings.
