Join us as we learn about the history of African-descended soldiers and civilians who either served in Washington’s Continental Army or fought for the King as Loyalists. Speakers are Sarah Wassberg Johnson, education and program manager of Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site, who specializes in Black Loyalist history, and Matt Thorenz, local history and government librarian and historian from Newburgh Free Library, who specializes in the Black experience in the Continental Army. This program is free and open to the public and will be held at the Old Austerlitz Church, 111550 NY-22, Austerlitz, NY 12017.
