LezVolley is annual all women's beach volleyball event for the LGBTQ+ and non-binary community (with an emphasis on gay women) that takes place in Cherry Grove, Fire Island. NYS is known to be one of the most welcoming places for LGBTQ+ visitors with many fun, inclusive and unique events all year long and that is exactly what LezVolley is!
Started in 2011, the tournament’s success has grown continuously over the years and welcomes thousands of people on the beach each year. It is sponsored by the historic Stonewall Inn and now gathers 25 participating teams with eccentric names such as “Gaywatch”, “LittyTitties”, “Scissors”, and “Sandy Straps”.
Registration to participate happens between April and July, women/non-binary players can sign up no matter their level, with either a full team or as single player. $40 per person.
Visitors, cheerleaders, friends & families can attend the games for free. The event is family & children friendly, dogs are allowed on a leash.
In addition to the games, the LezVolley event offers entertaining activities:
- A raffle gives everyone a chance to win prizes - The Love, Shea Award lets people vote for their favorite team throughout the day for the fan-favorite team to receive prizes to bring home - Singer Marisa Corvo (The Voice, American Idol) performs the National Anthem - And this year there will be a DJ on the beach.
