For the 2023/24 exhibition series, Artist-in-Residence, Buffalo Arts Studio has selected Lili Chin, a multimedia artist who creates time-based installations that investigate the flexibility of memory, ritual, and spirituality. Chin’s exhibition, Crossing, will follow a residency at BAS from August 17-28, 2023. Chin will explore waterways around Buffalo, including the Buffalo River, Lake Erie, the St. Lawrence River, and the Erie Canal using scientific data and bathymetric imaging of the lake bed. This residency will yield a multi-media body of work that encompasses fresco, ceramic, 16mm film, and weaving to meditate on industry, landscape, and environment in Buffalo, New York. It will be on display from September 22–November 3, 2023. Lili Chin is a visual artist based in New York City. She has exhibited at The Drawing Center, NY, Below Grand, NY, Microscope Gallery, NY, Bronx River Art Center, NY, and STPI Gallery in Singapore. She received her MFA from the University of California San Diego, her BFA from Pratt Institute, and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
