As you drive through the countryside to the Cassadaga area surrounded by the Cassadaga Lakes follow the signs to Lily Dale Assembly, Western New York’s home of Mediumship and Spiritual Healing since 1879. Although this is a seasonal community, the architecture, history of Women’s Rights and natural beauty of the area draw many to the area year-round. It is a hamlet of Victorian cottages bordered by an Old Growth Forest, where you can walk the streets to see the butterfly habitat and gardens and labyrinth, explore the Fairy Trail, admire the public buildings and grounds and feel the peace and energy of Lily Dale. National Register of Historic Places was designated in January 2022.
We begin our historical story by touring several iconic buildings, starting at the Maplewood Hotel, home of spirit paintings and spirits, built in 1880, overlooking the lake with inviting porches and Victorian charm. The Lily Dale Museum, originally a one room schoolhouse, contains an amazing collection of Spiritualist history, Women’s Suffrage artifacts and displays that trace the history of Spiritualism and Lily Dale. The tour concludes back at the Maplewood. This event was designed for the Path Through History June event.
Admission $30.00 per adult and children under 12 are free.
