Living History Days: Revolutionary War Encampment

Details

The Potsdam Public Museum, in partnership with the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce and the St. Lawrence County 250th Committee, is pleased to present Living History Days: Revolutionary War Encampment, taking place June 27–28, 2026 at Ives Park, 3 Riverview Drive Potsdam, NY 13676.

This immersive, family-friendly event will bring the American Revolution to life through authentic reenactments, demonstrations, and interactive experiences. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a recreated soldiers’ camp and learn about daily life during the Revolutionary War. Scheduled demonstrations include period cooking, fishing techniques, candle-dipping, and musket demonstrations. Reenactors from across the region will participate, with some camping on-site to provide a more authentic historical experience. Additional educational activities for younger audiences are also being explored as part of the weekend programming. The event is part of the broader celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary. The Fort de la Présentation Association will also be on-site with an outreach tent to share additional historical interpretation and resources.

Living History Days is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Hunter Crary, Village of Potsdam Historian at hcrary@villageofpotsdamny.gov.
