Anticipation is building as music-lovers prepare for an extremely rare, live performance of Claudio Monteverdi’s “Vespers of 1610” in Rochester on April 6, 2025, featuring ten singers and fifteen instrumentalists playing period instruments including strings, trombones, cornettos, organ, and bass lutes called theorbos. The Vespers of 1610 is a monument of western music, and into it Monteverdi poured every style of secular, vocal, choral and instrumental music of the 17th century. This piece has not been played in Western New York since 2015. Free open rehearsal, Thursday, April 3, 10am-1pm; come anytime and see how the musical magic happens! Pre-concert talk by Edoardo Bellotti at 3:15pm
