Native American Winter Games

Details

Spend the day at Ganondagan’s 17th annual Native American Winter Games for family-friendly Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) activities from 17th-century winters when Ganondagan was an active Seneca town. Outdoors, learn and play snowsnake, race small wooden snowboats (think Pinewood Derby), meet sled dogs and watch a dog sled demonstration, and learn how to use snowshoes. At the Seneca Art & Culture Center, see the Allegany River Dancers in colorful regalia demonstrating Iroquois Social Dancing, hear winter storytelling, win raffles, visit the Wampum Learning Center, watch the Iroquois Creation Story film, enjoy Iroquois White Corn inspired food for purchase, and more. The event takes place with or without snow.
