"OpSail Through the Decades" recognizes the many Operation Sail festivals that have brought tall ships to New York Harbor to celebrate our nation's milestones. The exhibit includes photos of ships that participated in the original 1964 event celebrating the World's Fair and commemorative booklets from 1986, 2000 and 2012. A video features U.S. President Ronald Reagan's speech from the 1986 festival commemorating the Statue of Liberty's 100th anniversary. This temporary exhibit joins permanent exhibits about America's oldest lighthouse tender, LILAC. Our 93-year-old museum ship is open for tours and exhibit viewing on weekend afternoons, weather permitting.
