Details

Come join us on this special “I Love New York” Path Through History Tour! This rare and specialized tour will lead you on a path through our historic landscape and mansion. You will begin by exploring the first and second floors of the mansion, providing visitors with a rare glimpse of the lavish decorative arts and furniture from the previous owners of Lyndhurst. Visitors then climb to the observation tower with panoramic views of the Hudson River and Manhattan. You will then descend the backstairs to view the Butler’s Suite and extensive kitchens, before exiting through the servants’ dining room to visit the 1911 Laundry Building, complete with original fixtures. After visiting the Mansion, you will take a leisurely stroll towards the Hudson River, wending your way past restored “outdoor rooms,” the site of an elaborate treehouse and rare trees and gardens. This two-hour tour ends with a visit to the restored 19th-century bowling alley with an exhibit on Lyndhurst owner Helen Gould and neighbor Madam C. J. Walker in the North Parlor as well as entering the South Parlor, which features decorative arts and 1895 wicker furniture and of course the 1894 bowling lanes!
