Planting Fields Foundation and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation will hold a two-day celebration of LGBTQ+ pride.
June 10: Ball in Coe Hall Our weekend celebration of LGBTQ+ culture will begin with our Gay in the Gilded Age Ball. We aim to pay homage to the 1920s with a roaring reception of queer celebration in Coe Hall. Open To All Entertainment will bring some of Ballrooms greatest performers, and a speaker on the New York Ballroom Scene, which is an African American and Latino underground LGBTQ+ culture that originated in New York City.
June 11: 11 AM Panel - Queer Evidence in Historical Narratives 1 PM Panel - Creating and Caring for LGBTQ+ Community on Long Island
All-day events including:
Highlighting the queer contributors of significance to the site
Tea house will be open with interpretive signage and a reoccurring lecture on Elsie De Wolfe
Booths hosted by local businesses
Program on access to sexual health services presented by Pride for Youth
Digital gallery of submissions from local artists titled “Growing Up Queer, Long Island".
Sara Kate Ellis and Kristen Henderson will be reading, and signing, their book titled "All Moms".
