Birdland is proud to announce that Rosena Hill Jackson will perform in concert, accompanied by acclaimed jazz pianist, composer and producer Cyrus Chestnut. The one-night-only event will take place on Monday, June 23 at 7pm! Rosena Hill Jackson is a vibrant force on Broadway and beyond, known for her captivating performances and rich musicality. She made her mark in the iconic role of Nettie Fowler in Carousel, stepping in after the esteemed Rene Fleming, a testament to her remarkable talent. Chosen by the legendary Harold Prince, Rosena was a key member of the cast of Prince of Broadway, further solidifying her status in the theater world. Her impressive repertoire includes standout performances in productions such as After Midnight, Come Fly Away, The Color Purple, Monty Pythons Spamalot (where she enchanted audiences as the Lady of the Lake), Imaginary Friends, the 2002 revival of Oklahoma!, Riverdance on Broadway, Marie Christine, and Ragtime. Additionally, she has graced international stages as a featured soloist with Queen Esther Marrow and the Harlem Gospel Singers & Band, touring across Europe in countries including Austria, Germany, Italy, and Sweden. As a celebrated concert soloist, Rosena has performed at renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall with The New York Pops and collaborated with prestigious orchestras including the Teatro di Massimo Symphony Orchestra in Sicily, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic for PBSs Live at Lincoln Center. Her artistry has been showcased with numerous orchestras across the United States, leaving audiences spellbound. A proud graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a BFA in Music, Rosena hails from Sarasota, Florida. She honors her late father with her poignant CD, If You Believe, which beautifully weaves together the genres of jazz, gospel, and show tunes. With each performance, Rosena Hill Jackson continues to inspire and uplift, leaving an indelible mark on the world of music and theater.
