Sailor's Snug Harbor Historical tour

See the past and the future at Snug Harbor! Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden is the proud steward of 28 historical buildings dating from 1833. We are one of the largest adaptive reuse sites in the country, including the finest collection of original Greek Revival buildings. Six structures were included in the first 40 landmark designations in the United States, issued by the New York City Landmark Preservation Commission. We are a National Historic District. Come learn the stories behind Sailors’ Snug Harbor’s construction and the people responsible for its design, and explore the architecture that put Snug Harbor on the map of irreplaceable architectural collections. How has this site stayed open and in use since 1831? What can we learn about the power of community? You’ll tour the campus and learn the origin story of Sailors’ Snug Harbor. Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. Event is rain or shine.
