Come explore the almost entirely original collection of artifacts and stories of the Seward House Museum in Auburn, NY. Learn about the life and legacy of William H Seward, Frances Miller Seward, and their family during the mid-19th century. William Seward was a New York State Senator, Governor, US Senator, and Secretary of State for both presidents Lincoln and Johnson. He is best known for Seward's Folly, or the purchase of Alaska. Frances was a staunch abolitionist, friend of Harriet Tubman, and advocate for women's rights. This politically important family heavily influenced local, state, and national politics, including the outcome of the American Civil War.
