SR Socially Relevant™ Film Festival New York, a 501(c)3 film festival founded by actress Nora Armani, launches its fifth edition March 16-22, 2018 at Cinema ViIlage, The School of Visual Arts MFA Social Doc film and The Center for Remembering and Sharing. This year's line-up includes 70 films from 35 countries. In addition, 7 feature film script finalists compete for best script. The Opening film on the 16th is followed by a reception at Villanelle. The Closing Night Awards Ceremony takes place on March 22, at Cinema Village followed by a closing party at Doux Supperclub.
The Mission of the SR Film Festival is to shine the spotlight on filmmakers who tell socially relevant™ human-interest stories, across a broad range of social issues such as immigration, women and girls, human trafficking, climate change, ageing, mental health, disability, social justice, homelessness, LGBTQ rights, VR/360º and more. The festival was created in response to the proliferation of violence and violent forms of storytelling in media and entertainment.
