Our popular Summer Jazz Series returns with six unique performances from some of Scandinavia’s most talented young jazz
    musicians, composers, and singers.

    NORTHBOUND
    THU—JUNE 7
Finnish trio Northbound bring their wide-ranging harmonic palate to NYC for a piano, bass, and percussion performance that
ranges from fiery to serene through free interaction. For this performance, they feature soloist sax musician Rich Perry.

    HELLE HENNING QUARTET
    THU—JUNE 14
Helle Henning Quartet explores and bridges the worlds of American jazz and new Nordic jazz music through original songs
written by Danish singer Helle Henning. The quartet includes vocals by Helle Henning, Simon Linnert on piano, Tony Scherr on
bass, and Kenny Wollesen on drums.

    KAISA’S MACHINE
    THU—JUNE 21
This jazz group, led by Finnish bass player and ASF Fellow Kaisa Mäensivu, performs unique compositions and songs from their
album In The Key of K that blend the current energetic sound of jazz in NYC with more melancholic and serene Scandinavian
    melodies.

THOMAS STRØNEN’S TIME IS A BLIND GUIDE
    THU—JUNE 28
A chamber music ensemble led by Thomas Strønen that draws from traditional folk music through contemporary music,
performed by some of Europe’s leading jazz musicians, this quintet performs as a string trio, a piano trio, and a percussion
    ensemble.

    ANNI RORKE
    THU—JULY 12
In her third visit to NYC, Finnish jazz pianist and composer Anni Rorke, a graduate of Norway’s prestigious NTNU Jazzlinja
conservatory, will be delivering a solo performance of her signature compositions merging classical and jazz traditions.

    OSKAR STENMARK QUARTET
    IN MY GRANDMOTHER’S FOOTSTEPS
    THU—JULY 19
Oskar Stenmark Quartet brings the music traditions of Gärdebyn, Dalecarlia to NYC with flugelhorn, bass, drums, and piano to
perform polskor, waltzes, and other songs mixed with contemporary sounds from New York.
