Summer Shakespeare Festival: The Two Gentlemen of Verona

Details

The Vanderbilt Museum’s 34th annual Summer Shakespeare Festival continues with The Two Gentlemen of Verona, opening Sunday, June 4, at 7:00 pm. The Carriage House Players present all productions on the stage in the Mansion’s beautiful Spanish Revival Courtyard. Festival-goers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and enjoy it on the grounds before the play. In Two Gentlemen, young Valentine travels to Milan to find his fortune, but instead falls for the fair Silvia, daughter of the Duke. His world is turned upside down when his best friend, Proteus, abandons his love, Julia, in Verona to woo Silvia for himself. With a pair of bumbling servants and a dog, it’s a lively Shakespearean comedy about the complexities of love, lust, and friendship. Set in the 1910s Mediterranean countryside.
