The Poetic Landscape of Western NY

The paintings in this exhibit are meant to convey to the viewer the way that natural light illuminates the landscape. I like to use strong colors and value contrast to amplify the mood of each scene. The landscape provides me with so much inspiration, and I feel a strong desire to reproduce that feeling in my art. The works are all soft pastel over watercolor on sanded paper. Meet the artist, Fred Fielding! Fred Fielding is a lifetime resident of Western New York, attending SUNY College at Buffalo and UB school of dental medicine. He has been practicing dentistry with Southtowns Dental Services for more than 35 years. He was always encouraged to express himself artistically, with both sides of his family featuring a long line of artists. Fred uses strong colors and values in his compositions, expressing visual excitement and highlighting the beauty of the natural world.
