On September 22, 1780, General Benedict Arnold and British Major John André met along the Hudson River to plot the surrender of West Point, an act of treason that forever changed American history. Join the Historical Society of Rockland County for a captivating day trip that brings this story to life at the very places where it unfolded.

A Walk Through Rockland County History: Travel by motorcoach and on foot as expert guides lead you through historic sites tied to espionage, intrigue, and betrayal, including the meeting site, André’s trial location, and the place of his execution. Along the way, you’ll gain vivid insight into the people, places, and decisions that shaped the nation’s future.

The daytrip begins at 8:45 am at the Orangetown Historical Museum & Archives' historic Salyer House and concludes there at 3:30 pm.

Highlights include:

  • Guided tour of the Orangetown Museum’s exhibition: “A Spy in Our Midst.”
  • Guided walk in Dutchtown, near the André-Arnold meeting site
  • Exploration of key Revolutionary War landmarks in Tappan including the DeWint House
  • Luncheon at the legendary Old `76 House
