Walkway Connections (For Kids): Tiny Ecosystems of the Hudson

Details

Introducing children to the concept of ecology by exploring how living and non-living components of ecosystems interact at the East Gate Plaza in Poughkeepsie. Through understanding how plants provide oxygen and food, and how decomposers recycle nutrients, children gain insight into the ecological balance of where they live. This event also highlights the wisdom of indigenous peoples, who practiced sustainable resource use to maintain harmony with the Hudson’s environment. The program emphasizes the ecology of the mid-Hudson Valley, encouraging a better understanding on how they can protect and conserve their natural world in Poughkeepsie. All Walkway Connections events are free to attend with no RSVP required.
