In 1958 the Johnsburg Fish and Game Club began this nationally known, longest running canoe competition. Every year since the Derby became the spring thing to do for both paddlers and spectators. On the first Saturday and Sunday in May participants enter the Hudson and begin the race down river for the coveted prize. The schedule includes novice slalom, giant slalom, and the Not-S-Whitewater Race 2.5-miles for beginners to intermediate level canoers on Saturday. A party, music, prizes and awards follow - this in itself is a tradition. On Sunday is the Downriver Race with awards being presented at the Finish Line in Riparius. Grab your paddle, canoe or kayak and join us in celebrating 60 years of Adirondack Fun!
