Big Apple Greeter volunteers accompany visitors through the tapestry of City neighborhoods on free, informal, unscripted walks. These New Yorkers love their City and want to help visitors get more out of their stay. Founded in 1992, the program has welcomed more than 150,000 visitors from all 50 states and over 100 countries, with visits conducted in 20 languages. Greeters meet up to 6 people who are traveling together. Requests are made through the website at least one month prior to arrival.
