  • Founded in 1849 on 269 acres, Forest Lawn is one of America’s premier historic cemeteries and the final resting place of pioneers such as Shirley Chisholm (the first African-American woman elected to the U.S. Congress) and Mary Burnett Talbert (founder of the Niagara Movement, which was a precursor to the NAACP). Unique grave markers and the Birge Memorial can be seen on a tour where actors portray some of the famous Buffalonians buried here. A Path Through History attraction.
