The Sembrich

Details

An official Path Through History attraction! Experience Music: Each year, the Sembrich's summer festival includes live concerts, films, children’s programming, and lectures featuring world-class musicians. The Sembrich’s popular World Music Wednesday series features inspired multicultural lakeside performances. Indoor events are held within the intimate setting of the studio museum, a superb venue with excellent acoustics. Experience History: Step back a century into America’s “Gilded Age” in the Sembrich’s museum. A National Historic Register site, the Sembrich was once part of the summer estate of Polish opera singer Marcella Sembrich (1858-1935), a leading prima donna at The Metropolitan Opera and a founding member of the voice faculties for the Juilliard School and others. Upon her passing, Sembrich’s lakeside teaching studio was transformed into a museum preserving her legacy. The museum contains memorabilia of her distinguished career, with accolades from colleagues including Brahms, Puccini, and Verdi, a working Victrola, Sembrich’s original Steinway piano, opera costumes, art, furniture, photographs, and tributes. Experience Nature: Stroll along pristine shoreline paths on 4.5 acres and enjoy picturesque views of the Adirondack Mountains and Lake George, the “Queen of America’s Lakes", or enjoying a lakeside lunch beneath the majestic pines on secluded Hydrangea Bay. Carry-in carry-out picnicking is welcome.
