Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden

Details

An official Path Through History Site! The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden celebrates life in 19th-century New York. Originally built in 1799 as a carriage house, the building was converted into the Mount Vernon Hotel, a day hotel, in 1826 to cater to New York City's growing middle class and visitors to New York’s countryside. Through its eight fully-furnished period rooms, the Museum explores travel, leisure, work and play in diverse antebellum New York. Modern-day visitors can explore its period rooms while learning about social history and material culture in the early days of the New Republic.
