This fourth-generation family-owned operation is a cultural and culinary institution that has cemented itself as the spot to get the best bagel and lox sandwich in New York City since first opening on the Lower East Side in 1914. In addition to its original shop on East Houston Street, Russ & Daughters also has a café on Orchard Street and an “Appetizing Factory” at the Brooklyn Navy Yard where they serve all the staples — smoked salmon, pickled herring, caviar, potato latkes, chocolate babkas, and so much more.
