Located in Greenport, Silver Sands Motel & Beach Bungalows is the North Fork’s most iconic boutique hotel. Since 1957, our neon sign has welcomed guests to 1,400 feet of private sandy beach facing Shelter Island on serene Peconic Bay. Here, you’ll find breathtaking views, high-end amenities, and luxurious accommodations in 20 Hotel Rooms and 10 cottages. For larger groups, families, or extended stays, our Beach Houses – offering three and four bedrooms – provide an ideal retreat. Recognized as a 2024 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award winner for the Mid-Atlantic region, Silver Sands Motel & Beach Bungalows offers an unparalleled guest experience in a setting rich with history and charm.

The Food and Beverage program at Silver Sands is helmed by Executive Chef Finn O’Hara, formerly of Michelin-starred The Four Horsemen in Brooklyn. His approach to cuisine mirrors the property’s ethos – thoughtful, intentional, and deeply connected to its surroundings – delivering culinary experiences that feel both elevated and effortless.

Celebrated as a cornerstone of Greenport's culinary scene, Nookies has earned a place on Condé Nast Traveler's 2024 list of the 'Best New Hotel Restaurants in the World.'  In a warm, nostalgic ambiance that honors our classic diner roots, Nookies delights guests with scratch-made, thoughtfully crafted dishes. Daytime favorites include pillowy handmade biscuits and crispy hash browns served with house-smoked, sustainable fish. As evening falls, the space transforms into a cozy, vibrant dinner spot, showcasing inventive, chef-driven cuisine with a seasonally evolving menu that highlights the freshest local ingredients.

Down by the water, beneath a century-old oak tree, Eddie’s Oyster Bar pays tribute to one of Silver Sands’ beloved former owners - a passionate oyster farmer. The menu nods to a Mediterranean repertoire but with the unfussy vibe of the North Fork; think wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, hyper-local oysters that travel only 200 feet from the water to your table, masterful seafood creations, and a well-curated wine list. Eddie’s exemplifies simple, refined seaside dining at its best.

This 1950s beachfront retreat has been meticulously rejuvenated by Alexander Perros, the creative director, proprietor, and developer of Silver Sands. From 2022 to 2023, the property underwent a 14-month renovation in collaboration with the acclaimed architecture firm Leroy Street Studio Architects and renowned landscape architect Edmund Hollander, who infused the grounds with a wild, un-Hamptons aesthetic. Rooted in its rich history, the rejuvenation preserves the cherished spirit of Silver Sands while thoughtfully reimagining it for today’s travelers. The result is a laid-back yet refined escape, where meandering native meadows, mid-century details, and thoughtful hospitality come together seamlessly.
