The Art Garage - Cooperstown

Details

The Art Garage, a pop-up space less than a mile outside Cooperstown on the bucolic Beaver Meadow Road, has been offering a FREE art feast to area visitors and residents for five years. Located in a new post-and-beam three-bay garage, each gallery is the size of a one-bay stall, filled with imaginative, changing shows of contemporary art during the summer months.

The Art Garage offers a series of free public programs that feature artists’ talking about their work, and their unique visions. The Third Bay features self-taught artist, Louis Sherry—an Art Garage discovery! -- and a vintage MG Midget. The shows present mostly New York State artists working in particularly inventive styles. The Art Garage also represents the estates of self-taught artist, farmer Lavern Kelley, and outlier miniaturist, Alice Hudson, whose works are in numerous museum collections, including the Smithsonian (Kelley) and the Mingei International Museum in San Diego (Hudson).

Additionally the Art Garage is pleased to be the local representative for minimalist landscape artist, Tracy Helgeson, whose large-scale shimmering works were exhibited at The Art Garage in 2017, and also in a solo exhibition at the Fenimore Art Museum.

While visiting The Art Garage, ask for a visit of Ms. Waller’s expansive perennial gardens!
