The Water Mill Museum is the oldest commercial building on the East End, and one of the oldest mills in NY State. It has powerful grinding geas and stones powered by the water-driven (huge) outside wheel sitting on Mill Creek in Water Mill. The hamlet of Water Mill was named for this mill. See local history exhibits on whaling, fin-fishing, ice harvesting, geological history, artifacts from the Civil War, ledgers and much much more all about the mill and its local history. Also, art gallery with changing exhibits, gift shop, folk art, Quilt and Vintage Lure/Decoy Carving exhibits. See calendar for schedule. The Museum is a not-for-profit entity, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with an all-volunteer staff and board.
