An official Path Through History Site! The Howland Stone Store Museum is housed in an 1837 cobblestone building erected by Slocum Howland for his store. The museum highlights A the Howland family contributions to reform movements of 19th and early 20th century upstate New York, especially abolition and women's suffrage. Prized possessions include an Underground Railroad pass brought by two slaves in 1840 and a collection of women's suffrage posters. The Museum has an extensive record of commercial patterns of a 19th century upstate community, including original store ledgers, and a large "Cabinet of Curiosities."
