Hoyt Farm Park Preserve

Details

Like many parks on Long Island this Park/Preserve is a dual purpose facility. Part of this 133 acre park has recreational fields, ball fields playground and a picnic area. It is also a preserve with dogwood, oak and hickory trees, a Restoration Apple Orchard, a vernal pond and open fields. Look for Indigo Bunting around the Apple Orchard. The open fields provides habitat for Eastern Kingbird, House Wren, Cedar Waxwing, American Goldfinch, Blue-winged, and Yellow Warbler. In the Woodland areas look for Gray Catbirds, Downy and Red-bellied Woodpecker, Carolina Wren, Red-eyed Vireo, and Eastern Towhee. Also look for Migrant birds in the spring. Directions From Route 25 turn south on Harned Road, and continue to New Highway. Turn left (east) onto New Highway Continue to entrance of park on the right side of the road.  Resident only fees  apply, Hours of operation: Daily 8:00 AM to dusk.
