Yara Arts Group creates original theatre pieces that explore timely issues rooted in the East and attain universality in the telling. We bring together drama, poetry, song, historical materials and movement to create productions described as "extended meditations on an idea." Our working process involves extensive field research and recording of traditional stories, songs and chants that are translated and structured into bilingual, multimedia performances for a diverse audience base. With Yara artists of Asian, African, Latino, Eastern and Western European ethnic origin, we explore the material through our diverse cultural perspectives.
