Zenda Farms Preserve, Community Garden and MacFarlane Trail

Details

Zenda Farms was a state-of-the-art dairy and beef farm that operated from 1939 into the late 1950's. The farm preserve includes the original Jamesway farm buildings, thought to be the only full set of their kind in North America! The preserve is surrounded by 405 acres of grasslands, wetlands, forest, and hay meadows maintained for wildlife habitat and includes the Lois Jean and John MacFarlane Trail and Zenda Community Garden. The Zenda Community Garden provides fresh, locally grown produce for participating local families, and a Kids Korner Garden and Natural Play Area which is open to the public. The 1.35 mile long Lois Jean and John MacFarlane Trail runs around the perimeter of a meadow and is a non-motorized trail for hiking, jogging and cross-country skiing. TILT is currently developing Zenda Farms into a center for community engagement, environmental education, and sustainable agriculture within its ecologically diverse and culturally historic farm setting - including the production of sustainably-produced wine and organic cheese.
