The Feeder Canal Alliance is the steward of the Glens Falls Feeder Canal and 9 mile long Towpath Trail in New York’s Warren and Washington Counties. The Glens Falls Feeder is the last remaining original canal in NY still operating as originally constructed to continuously carry water to the highest point of the Champlain Canal.

Glens Falls Brewfest and Taps & Apps
Glens Falls Brewfest and Taps & Apps are about much more than beer. It is about making the community a better place. All proceeds benefit Adirondack Theatre Festival and Feeder Canal Alliance. These events have contributed over $200,000 to the community.
Early Spring is a wonderful time to visit the Glens Falls Feeder Canal & Towpath Trail!
Strap on your crampons or snowshoes (when conditions warrant those) and enjoy an invigorating walk along the Historic Towpath Trail, which includes views overlooking the beautiful Hudson River in some sections. The Towpath Trail is especially beautiful as winter turns to early Spring, when frost is on remnants of the lowered canal water and the grassy areas surrounding the Towpath Trail.
The main access bridge is located at Overlook Park in Glens Falls on Richardson Street, which is about 1.5 miles off Exit 18 on the Northway. New pedestrian bridges over the Feeder Canal are located at Murray St. and at Water Street, to make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to safely travel those sections of the Towpath Trail.
E-BIKE POLICY: According to New York State Canal Corporation, Class 1 and 2 E-Bikes are allowed on the Feeder Canal Towpath Trail. We urge winter riders to use extreme caution as the Towpath Trail may be difficult to ride on as the result of evolving levels of snow, slush and ice.

Our Story
From the early 1800’s until 1941, the Glens Falls Feeder Canal provided a means of transportation by canal boats for people and numerous goods. The canal and towpath today provide four season recreational opportunities to community residents, visitors and tourists, as well as a glimpse into the past. The Feeder Canal Alliance, a 501c3 founded in 1987, preserves, promotes and protects the Glens Falls Feeder Canal and Towpath Trail through diverse educational programs and special events, and sharing its unique history and contributions to Glens Falls, Hudson Falls, Ft. Edward and the Adirondacks.

The Glens Falls Feeder Canal Towpath is a nine mile trail suitable for walking, running or biking from the Feeder Dam in Queensbury to Mullen Park in Fort Edward.

The Feeder Canal is suitable for canoeing or kayaking for five miles from the beginning of the Canal at Feeder Dam in Queensbury to the takeout at Martindale Boat Basin on Martindale Avenue in Hudson Falls.

The Southern Adirondack Audubon Society would like to encourage you to get out there and start looking for and observing birds. They specifically list the Towpath Road in Kingsbury as a great site to look for birds.
