Welcome to the home of the Port Jefferson Historical Society at the Mather House Museum. Inside you will find information about Long Island History and the shipbuilding industry that once flourished on these New York shores. The museums complex consists of the main home of shipbuilder John T. Mather with antiques, furniture, paintings by William Davis of boats, boat building and ship yards of the Bayles and Willse family. The outbuildings consist of a country store, tool shed, butcher and barber shops, post office, carriage house, marine barn with diorama, sail loft,  and Clock Museum and school. Also featured are the gardens surrounding the property, containing herb and perennial gardens.

The Mather Museum will reopen for Tours - Saturday, May 25th - 12 PM to 4 PM.
