Una was born and raised in Dublin's Fair City. She took to the boards at a young age, drawn to the magic, and because the theater was one of the few places you could hear a pin drop. She has especially loved playing a lovelorn frog, a witch of Hecate, an unstoppable tailor, a raging Goddess, an aging puppeteer, Juliet's nurse, a heart-broken mother and an outcast Queen. She wants to play Mother Courage one day and pull that cart with gusto.
Shakespeare, the Greeks, Chekhov, Ibsen, O'Casey and Tom Murphy make her soul sing.
Una is a company member at The Irish Rep where she was part of the history-making O’Casey Cycle in 2019 and played Lady Gregory in the 2020 production of Lady G. She is also a proud member of The Drilling Company, where she has performed in The Winter’s Tale (Paulina), Hamlet (Gertrude), Macbeth (1st Witch) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Snout) among other plays. Other favorites include the role of Fionnuala in Seanie Sugrue's play, The 8th. Film credits include Moratorium (Dir. Kevin Connolly) and The Stain (Dir. Brian Petchers).
She has collaborated on play-writing, poetry-making, storytelling and ballad-singing with many great creative partners. These have taken her all over New York, to Italy, back to Ireland, and many times to the Edinburgh Fringe.
Una is thrilled to be playing the role of Mary in this wonderful new play and feels an especially strong connection to Galway through her beloved brother, John, his wife Mary and their amazing family. This one's for you, John.
