DAY 1

A journey on scenic Route 20 is perfect for viewing fall foliage with attractions within 5 to 10 miles of the route. Start your trip in Syracuse with a visit to the Museum of Science and Technology (MoST), a hands-on museum that offers over 300 displays, a planetarium and IMAX theater.

Check out the current exhibitions at the Everson Museum of Art, and ongoing exhibits at Syracuse China Center for the Study of Ceramics and Art Zone, especially designed to acquaint beginning art viewers to the visual arts. It features several interactive areas, a portrait station, and much more to complement the I.M. Pei-designed building that houses it.

Enjoy dinner at the nationally acclaimed Dinosaur Bar-B Que, with its renowned sauces, ribs, steaks and blues club ambiance.

DAY 2

Take Rte 5 east and then Rte 13 south to Chittenango Falls State Park, near Cazenovia and home to a picturesque 167-foot waterfall, an amazing variety of plants and wildlife, and opportunities for fishing, hiking and picnicking.

Hunt for yesterday's treasures from more than 200 individual antique dealers housed along a three-mile stretch of Rte 20 between Madison and Bouckville.

Continue east on Rte 20 and then head south on Rte 28 to Fly Creek. Stop at Fly Creek Cider Mill and try some of their fresh-pressed sweet cider that they've been making for 153 years. Tour this historic water-powered cider mill and relax on the mill pond observation deck with a farm fresh lunch from the restaurant and bakery.

Take Rte 28 into Cooperstown. Tour the village streets; visit the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Stroll the grounds of The Farmers' Museum.
