Rochester, N.Y., January 31, 2017-The George Eastman Museum and the University of Rochester have announced that two collections of George Eastman's papers have been reunited at the Eastman Museum. The university's Department of Rare Books, Special Collections, and Preservation (RBSCP) has recently transferred a group of letters and photographs that it has housed since 1976 to the museum's George Eastman Legacy Collection, established in 1989.

New York Central Railroad

Scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm 

Utica, N.Y. - Take a whimsical and sentimental journey through the Adirondack Park in the 1940s with John Taibi.  Taibi will tell the story of his father's trip from Utica to Lake Placid on the New York Central Railroad (today the Adirondack Scenic Railroad).  Taibi's father, a World War II veteran, was sent to Lake Placid to re acclimate to normal life after living as a POW overseas.  Period photographs will be used to illustrate what his father and other POW survivors saw along the way.

Astoria, New York, January 30, 2017-Actor, musician, activist, and humanitarian Harry Belafonte will turn 90-years-old on March 1, 2017. On this occasion, Museum of the Moving Image will celebrate his legendary career as an artist and activist-a little early-on Saturday, February 4, with a three-film retrospective and conversation with Belafonte's friend, the best-selling author Walter Mosley. The Harry Belafonte Pre-Birthday Celebration will feature screenings of The Strolling ‘20s, a television special produced by and starring Belafonte and featuring Sidney Poitier, Diahann Carroll, Sammy Davis, Jr. and more, that has hardly been seen in 50 years; Robert Altman's Kansas City, which features Belafonte's favorite of his own performances; and Otto Preminger's classic Carmen Jones, in which he stars opposite Dorothy Dandridge.

Glens Falls, N.Y. -The Hyde Collection is proud to announce the recent appointment of two new members to the Board of Trustees, Ellen-Deane Cummins and Sarah Parker Ward. 

Ms. Cummins has been a summer resident of Bolton Landing for more than thirty-five years and moved three years ago from Boston to Saratoga Springs. She is an avid collector of fine art and contemporary craft, and is passionate about classical music. She has been an active member of several nonprofit organizations in New York City, Washington, DC, San Francisco, and Boston.

Visit Syracuse & Winter head to PA for Groundhog Day

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Visit Syracuse and its newest resident, Winter, are heading to Punxsutawney, PA to cheer for six more weeks of winter fun. Winter wonderland weekend collage
