Holiday Valley Mardi Gras ChairliftEllicottville, NY – With an eye on the future, Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville, NY is planning construction a 6-passenger chairlift starting in the summer of 2022, with completion of the lift in September 2023. The new lift will replace the Mardi Gras Express, a 4 passenger high speed lift built in 1996 that runs up through the heart of the resort. According to Holiday Valley’s President and General Manager, Dennis Eshbaugh, “The Holiday Valley lift system has been recognized by our guests as one of the best in the East. The Yodeler Quad Express lift built in 2021 raised the bar. The Mardi Gras 6-pack will give skiers and snowboarders an exciting new experience, with quicker access to the top of the mountain.”…

Tang Teaching Museum BuildingSaratoga Springs, NY (January 18, 2022) — The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College is delaying its public reopening to Thursday, February 3.

Two new exhibitions—Opener 34: Ruby Sky Stiler—New Patterns and Radical Fiber: Threads Connecting Art and Science—were originally scheduled to open to the public on Saturday, January 29; however, for the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff at the start of the semester, Skidmore College is prohibiting off-campus visitors through Sunday, January 30.

Exhibition features new relief paintings, site-specific line sculpture, and functional sculpture

Saratoga Springs, NY (January 19, 2022) — The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College is pleased to present Opener 34: Ruby Sky Stiler—New Patterns, a solo exhibition by artist Ruby Sky Stiler, including new relief paintings, site-specific line sculpture, and functional sculpture. The exhibition opens January 29 and runs through May 15; however, due to health and safety concerns at the start of the semester visitors for opening weekend will be limited to members of Skidmore’s on-campus community. The public can view the exhibition beginning February 3.

through its popular “pay what you wish” admission program. Visitors may now set their own admission prices on Friday. This new promotion doubles the number of “pay what you wish” days, formerly offered only on Mondays. The promotion runs through March 2022.

Adirondack Experience logoTo Assist with new $4.5m ARTISTS & INSPIRATION IN THE WILD EXHIBITION Opening in 2023

Blue Mountain Lake, NY (January 11, 2022) - The Adirondack Experience, The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, (ADKX) has received a $500,000 grant from the Challenge Grants program of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), a federal agency. The funds will help support the $2.25M construction cost of the Artists & Inspiration in the Wild project. As part of the Challenge Grant requirements, ADKX must match the funds 3:1. ADKX is in the final phase of fundraising for this project during which they will be seeking funds to match the NEH Challenge Grant. Currently ADKX has raised $3M of the $4.5M overall cost of the project. This grant was secured following a highly competitive application and review process.  NEH receives funding requests from across the U.S. and makes grants to a select few. Just eight Challenge Grants were made at the $500,000 level or more in the current round of NEH funding. …

Wild Center logoThe Wild Center announces January & February programming

Tupper Lake, N.Y. – The Wild Center has added to its winter programming with free snowshoe and kicksled rentals, guided ice fishing on its Greenleaf Pond and ice sculptures. These experiences – and more – are available Fridays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with timed ticket reservations. The Wild Center continues to host Wild Lights presented by Merrill L. Thomas, Inc. on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5-7 p.m. when the 115-acre campus is transformed into a winter wonderland with thousands of dazzling lights.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the official kick-off to the One-Year Out Celebration for the Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games. The winter edition of the 11-day cultural exchange and sporting event returns to the United States and Lake Placid January 12-22, 2023, after a 50-year absence.
