The 2016 festival celebrates Cinema Tropical's 15th anniversary with an opening night reception; festival films include one U.S. and two New York premieres February 26-28, 2016 at Museum of the Moving Image

Astoria, Queens, New York (Feb 11, 2016) - Museum of the Moving Image and Cinema Tropical, the acclaimed New York-based organization dedicated to promoting Latin American cinema in the United States, co-present the 2016 edition of the Cinema Tropical Festival. This year's festival, which is also a celebration of Cinema Tropical's 15th anniversary, showcases six feature films-from Argentina, Guatemala, Panama, Peru, and Puerto Rico-including winners and nominees from the 6th Annual Cinema Tropical Awards, which were announced in January. The festival runs February 26 through 28, 2016 at Museum of the Moving Image.

Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum is pleased to present an author talk and book signing with Patricia Bell-Scott, author of THE FIREBRAND AND THE FIRST LADY: PORTRAIT OF A FRIENDSHIP: PAULI MURRAY, ELEANOR ROOSEVELT, AND THE STRUGGLE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE. The program will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016in the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Home. Following the presentation, Professor Bell-Scott will be available to sign copies of her book. This event is free and open to the public.

Jon Cleary, Christian McBride, and Eliane Elias received 2015 GRAMMY Awards on Monday

Saratoga Springs, NY - Three artists performing at the 2016 39th annual Freihofer's Saratoga Jazz Festival won GRAMMY Awards® at the 58th Annual GRAMMYs on Monday night: Jon Cleary won Best Regional Roots Music Album; Christian McBride won Best Improvised Jazz Solo-his 5th GRAMMY Award; and Eliane Elias won Best Latin Jazz Album.  Each of these artists will perform at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on June 25-26, 2016.
