Brothertown Romance WyattUtica, N.Y. – Janet Dangler, Town of Marshall Historian, will discuss the Brothertown Indians; a Christian group of Native Americas who settled the Deansboro area in the 1770’s and later relocated to Wisconsin. The Brothertowns formed by choice from several northeastern tribes to preserve their common culture and identity. Dangler will discuss the group’s history, share stories of several well-known Brothertons, including Samson Occum, Asa Dick, and Romance Wyatt, and address issues facing the Brothertown Indians today.

SEAGULL MachinePreviews begin April 14, Opens April 16, Runs through April 29

New York, NY – La MaMa, in association with The Assembly, presents the world premiere of SEAGULLMACHINE, created by The Assembly, conceived by Nick Benacerraf, co-directed by Jess Chayes (Lucille Lortel Award winner) and Nick Benacerraf, and text by Anton Chekhov, Heiner Müller and The Assembly. SEAGULLMACHINE runs from April 14 - 29, 2018 in a limited engagement at La MaMa’s Ellen Stewart Theatre, located at 66 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and the Bowery in New York City. Previews begin April 14 for an April 16 opening.

Rochester, N.Y., February 27, 2018—The senior matinee film series will return to the Dryden Theatre on Monday, March 5 at 1:30 p.m. with a screening of Queen Kelly (Erich von Stroheim, 1929).

The senior matinee series is generously supported by the Daisy Marquis Jones Foundation and allows the museum to offer free admission to seniors 55 years and older. The series runs on most Mondays at 1:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) from March through October, and gives audiences the chance to experience cinema on 35mm, the way it was originally screened and meant to be seen.

NYS Parks, Recreation, Historic Preservation At the Art Gallery at Rockefeller State Park Preserve

Pleasantville, N.Y. – The Art Gallery at the Rockefeller Preserve welcomes the beginning of a new season with its upcoming exhibit “The Spirit of Spring,” on display from March 11th to April 29th. The Art Gallery is open 7 days a week from 9 AM until 4:30 PM. An Artists’ Reception will be held on March 18th from 1 to 3 PM. The exhibit and the reception are both free and open to the public.
