Flashdance Comes to Proctors May 6-11

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - SPAC's popular "Rock & Run" 10K and 5K fundraiser is slated for Sunday, May 18 at the Saratoga Spa State Park. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. with a 1K Kids' Run, followed by the 5K and 10K at 9:30 a.m. Over 20 top Capital Region bands will perform along certified running routes and at the free, post-race party on SPAC's lawn. Online registration is available at All proceeds will benefit SPAC's Vivienne Anderson program which hosts underserved children at classical performances.

Elmira, N.Y. - On Wednesday, April 23, The History Center will present the work of Ithaca College environmental history students. With news of human-induced environmental change increasingly in the news, the latest installment of this history project offers insights into the historical relationship between people and the local environment.


Festivals and recreational events kick off the 190th opening of the Erie Canal


Waterford, N.Y. - The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor and the New York State Canal Corporation have teamed up to sponsor 28 events in 2014 to showcase the Canalway Corridor's nationally significant heritage and the tremendous recreational appeal of the waterway and trails today. By working together, the federal and state partners are able to provide financial assistance to more communities and expand the number of sponsored events from 20 in 2013 to 28 this year.
