59th season opens May 20 with fairs and family festivals, crafts from basket making to boat building, and the return of signature favorite events
Blue Mountain Lake, N.Y. - April 25, 2016 - The Adirondack Museum will open for its 59th season on Friday, May 20. Set on 121 acres, the 24-building campus will offer daily programs, family festivals and activities, compelling new special exhibits to complement permanent exhibits, and fairs for aficionados of all things Adirondack. A range of talented artisans-in-residence will demonstrate the scope of Adirondack craftsmanship, while workshops will give visitors hands-on experience and an Adirondack keepsake.
Cayuga County, N.Y. - The 2016 Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail Tasty Tour will kick-off on May 6th from 5 - 8 pm at Theater Mack behind the Cayuga Museum, 203 Genesee Street, Auburn as part of First Friday, a community open house coordinated by the Auburn Downtown BID. This farmer's market style event is free and family-friendly, offering samples and tastings of locally produced baked goods, jams & jellies, honey and maple syrup from many of the 21 sweet spots on the Trail.

New York City (April 20, 2016) -NYC & Company, New York City's official destination marketing organization, together with Nickelodeon, announced the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are the newest Official NYC Family Ambassadors-part of a yearlong campaign to highlight New York City as a family-friendly destination. In 2015 New York City welcomed an estimated 17.5 million family visitors, a nearly two percent projected increase over 2014, and family travel to NYC is expected to continue to grow in 2016 to reach approximately 17.7 million family visitors. Since the launch of the Family Ambassador program in 2009, family visitation to New York City has grown by 32.6 percent and is currently 30 percent of total visitation to New York City. Syracuse, N.Y. - Butch Trucks & Freight Train will be the headlining act for this year's New York State Blues Festival in Syracuse, NY. Trucks, a founding member and original drummer of the Allman Brothers Band, will be the closing act of the free, two-night festival in Syracuse.
The festival will be held on July 8 & 9 in Syracuse's Clinton Square.
